Abstract:
This thesis presents the translation of the novel En un rincón del alma from Spanish into Italian, that I have officially translated for the publishing house Ediciones B, written by the Spanish authoress Antonia J. Corrales, and an analysis of the translation.
En un rincón del alma is divided into thirty nine chapters more the prologue and the epilogue.
The story takes place in Spain and in Egipt and the main character is Jimena, who relates her life, in the form of a letter to her mother.
The thesis consists of three parts. The first one is the original text of the novel, the second part is the translation of the novel and the third part is divided into four chapters and is about the analysis.
The first chapter talks about the the authoress, the story of the novel and its features, like text type, function, model reader and style and register. The second one introduces the different problems regarding the translation process, especially the problems concerning the translation of literary texts. The third chapter corresponds to the analysis and a commentary of both the original text and the translation from a lexical point of view, justifying lexical choices. Finally, last chapter consists of an analysis and a commentary from the morfosyntactic point of view, justifying morfosyntactic choises.
After the conclusion, there is a Spanish-Italian-English glossary concerning the most relevant terms and expressions.
