This master’s thesis delves into the legacy of Theodor Seuss Geisel, widely recognized as Dr. Seuss, a prominent and imaginative figure in children’s literature. The study aims to examine Dr Seuss’s influence and significance within the historical landscape of the United States during the latter half of the twentieth century. Employing a comprehensive approach involving literature review and analysis of both his writing and illustrations, it scrutinizes Dr. Seuss’s literary and artistic style, as well as his influence on subsequent generations of children’s book authors and illustrators. Beyond merely exploring Dr. Seuss’s creative contributions, this research critically discusses the reception of his work, particularly in light of contemporary controversies related to representation, diversity, and cultural sensitivity.
