Abstract:
The year 2022, a year still in the midst of complex and intensifying crises such as the ongoing Covid pandemic. Due to the crises, the risk of a regression in gender equality is also arising. The stalled progress is partly due to the persistent covid pandemic. In the continuous debate on the gender impact of the covid pandemic, the hypothesis is repeatedly raised that the pandemic and its accompanying events have led to a return to traditional gender roles among many couples, with women and especially mothers being more disposed to take on additional housework and childcare. This thesis aims to shed light on these effects by using newly collected data and secondary data analyzing the post-covid, during-covid and current-covid situation, focusing on employed women in Germany. The aim is to understand how the impacts of the Covid pandemic has evolved since the outbreak of the pandemic.
