Abstract:
Abstract: Korhogo city in the north of Cote d'Iviore is area focus on the primary sector. Located in
a tropical and wet climatic zone with a low thermal excursion, it is suited for agricultural purposes.
A solar power plant of 50 Megawatts made Korhogo more attractive but reducing arable areas. The
combination of these factors added to the effect of climate change, land overexplotation and bad
water management are threatening sustainability of the agricultural production. Additionally, despite
the situation is still suitable for human settlement, there is a high percentage of people with problem
of malnutrition which can only be made worse by what was mentioned earlier. For these reasons, it
is necessary to intervene. Aquaponics, a methods which is a combination of hydroponic and
aquaculture, has been taken into consideration in similar contexts. Hence, this thesis will focus on a
feasibility study of an aquaponic plant on the district of Korhogo as a mean to improve food
security and protect the environment. It will be explained in detailed how the aquaponic system
could be built focusing on the kind of system which will choose, the location taken into
consideration, which environmental impacts, its economic cost and the actors involved. So simply
this research thesis focuses on the preparation of a theoretical model useful for humanitary
purposes.
Additionally this research have the function to present aquaponics in a country where it does not
exist yet but where there are suitable conditions for proposing this kind of project.
