Abstract:
With the globalization rapidly developing, interpreters play an important role in bridging the gap of cross-cultural communication. Demand for interpreters has risen and has created a requirement for interpreter teaching to be separated from regular foreign language instruction, making it into an independent discipline. Interpreting can be divided into different types according to job requirements. One of these types is called liaison interpreting, which is widely needed, and requires a high degree of specialization.
This thesis is a translation report of liaison interpreting, whose source text is “Interpretazione di trattativa. La mediazione linguistico-culturale nel contesto formativo e professionale”(chapter 6, 7 and 8), published by HOEPLI. The translated part mainly describes the general outline of liaison interpreting and practical teaching suggestions.
The translation process is divided into three phases. The first one is preparation, which includes reading the source text and clarifying on the type of source text and the target text. Second, translation, which includes unifying the terminologies and to solve many difficulties with the translation. Finally, checking the translation, which includes reading and modifying it as necessary in order to make it more coherent and natural in comparison to the target language.
This thesis, to some extent, can help introduce interpretive teaching materials in China and it can also provide some interpretive teaching suggestions. The author has also broadened her visions and improved her translation capacity from her translation activity.
