Abstract:
Subject of this dissertation is a study on China’s recent personnel reforms of state universities. Two main methodological approaches have been followed: the so called “inside out” approach, which considers the reforms as based on features specific to the Chinese society, and the so called “outside in” approach, which aims to explain those reforms through a comparison with the models applied in the Western world. According to the first approach,
the Sun YatSen University and the Guangzhou University, both located in the Guangdong Province, have been taken into consideration and, according to the second approach, two Italian universities of comparable size, the University of Padova and the Ca’ Foscari
University, from the Venetian Region, have been also examined: both areas are characterized by a noticeable economic development, what justifies the choice.
