dc.description.abstract The purpose of this dissertation is to analyse the challenges that modern firms have to face in recruiting talents, the practices to overcome the skill shortages and the new frontiers of recruitment. In particular, the first part is dedicated to an overview of the labour market situation, characterised from one hand by an increasing level of unemployment, and from the other, by a lack of professional skills and expertise to fill vacant positions. The discussion continues with the practices and issues that companies must consider in organizing a successful recruitment campaign: employer branding, classical and new recruitment practices and talent pooling, with a particular focus on millennials’ attraction. Subsequently, social recruitment is analysed in detail, describing its roots in the e-recruitment practice, the trends, the theories that explain its success and its advantages and disadvantages. In particular, the LinkedIn case study deepens the understanding of the phenomenon, analysing its business plan and focusing on the services provided to firms paying the premium account. The analysis of LinkedIn corporation is enriched by an interview to a representative of the Italian division of the firm and by a comparison with competitors, in order to appreciate the reasons behind its success. it_IT
