Abstract:
To the typical dilemma between strategic consistency and strategic innovation the thesis adds a third dimension: responsiveness (or time consistency). Today we are witnessing an era of acceleration that is forcing companies not only to be strategically consistent and innovative, but also agile, a concept well-analysed by the design thinking approach. The re-startup model’s configuration comes to be a mediation between efforts that might seem divergent.
The incumbent company that joins a new unexperienced organization creates the best environment for a win-win exchange: the first would be a place of incubation, without sacrificing the development of the core business and organizational structure. The second is an exploration vehicle. The combination of the two realities talks about collaboration and creativity, creates ambidexterity and a acceleration driver in a world that is changing at higher and higher rates. This is the point I would like to analyze with my thesis. The case Unox/Exever will provide concreteness to the dissertation.
