dc.description.abstract |
The main aim of my dissertation is to analyze the actual evolution of the counterterrorism strategies, focusing in particular on the Western society and on the European Union.
In the first chapter, I will give a sociological angle of the problem of terrorism, focusing on the uncertainties that dominate the globalized world and I’ll try to describe the process of creation of certain types of social categorizations.
In the second chapter, I will deepen different legal problems related to the terrorist world, from the issue of finding an ultimate definition to the foreign fighters construction.
In the third chapter, I will analyze the current happenings and major changes that have occurred after the ISIS Paris attacks of the 13 of November 2015, trying to envision the possible future European Union decisions and assessments.
In the fourth chapter, I will present some major errors the democratic countries made in the last fifteen years concerning the violations of the human rights at Guantánamo Bay. Moreover, I will present how the patriarchal and gendered societies have failed in preventing such occurrences through a feminist eye.
Finally, I will conclude my dissertation giving some practical examples of how a good cooperation between governmental forces, police and cultural communities, as I have personally experienced in my staying in Brighton and Hove, United Kingdom, could combat the radicalization more efficiently than the military actions. |
