Abstract:
The term back-reshoring frequently makes headlines in the business press, creating expectation for a “manufacturing renaissance” in countries that witnessed the offshoring flood of manufacturing companies in the last 20 years. The aim of the dissertation is to understand if the back-reshoring phenomenon should be considered as a real trend among the location decisions of firms or if it is only a buzzword. Other than a review of the literature and a study of the situation in the United States of America and in Europe, a qualitative analysis of the back-reshoring phenomenon is provided with reference to some Italian manufacturing companies belonging to the Veneto Region.
