dc.description.abstract This paper proposes a brief investigation on the agricultural boom that started in the 40's and especially regards the United States of America. It is divided into three sections: the first one analyzes the main reasons that explain the extraordinary boost faced by the American agricultural background, the second one aims to describe one of the most important changes within the worldwide market that derive mostly from the creation of WTO. In the end, the third section is a consideration on the politics applied to administrate food abundance during the 50's and 60's through food aids. This dissertation wants to provide a concise overview on the food situation, underlining some incongruities without being partial or demonizing any subject. It was clear to me , while inspecting the selected bibliography, that there had been a plenty of variables orienting the explosion of American agriculture, some of those were almost random, while others were totally planned. The vast majority of the cultivations took advantage from these improvements but, as we will see from the cases explained in this thesis, not the entirety of the population could receive the benefits. This is mostly due to a bad management of the resources and to a sort of cynicism manifested by some of the most important international organizations like IMF and WB. it_IT
