谁畏惧中国 Chi ha paura della Cina Proposta di traduzione e commento di alcuni capitoli dell'opera di Francesco Sisci

Abstract

This paper consists of the translation and commentary on several chapters of Chi ha paura della Cina, one of the masterpieces of Mr. Francesco Sisci, correspondent and commentator at Europe’s largest financial newspaper, Il Sole 24 Ore. He observes things from a point of view that is serious and profound, but at the same time vivid and fresh. Generally speaking, the book can be divided in two parts: an introduction of the state of political-economic developments in China, and reflections and recommendations pertaining to Italy’s situation. The translation in this essay is mainly concentrated on the first part. Because of the fact that, so far, Chi ha paura della Cina has not been translated into Chinese, the translation of selected chapters in this essay is the first attempt to do so, and it is also the first analysis from the perspective of the process of translational studies, including how to choose the most suitable expressions, whether the content needs to be modified and the reasons for these choices.
