Abstract:
My thesis aims to depict the situation of Digital Humanities in the Slavic world, focusing in particular on the computer-supported processing of medieval manuscripts in Old Slavonic. Though in the Slavic countries there is an increasing number of digital libraries and repositories, only a few of them can be compared to the Western ones, that have already developed a well-established level of representation of scholar editions on Internet. This depends not only on a lack of funding or on a more conservative approach of Slavic scholar, but also on a totally different conception of textual criticism. Neverthless, it must be recognized that in some countries (like, for example, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Russia) some scholars have begun a process of modernization of these electronic editions through the use of XML and others scripting language. I'll draw a comparison between some digital projects, in order to show which goals have already been achieved and which still need to be achieved.
