Abstract:
This Master Graduation Thesis will focus on a technical translation - from Chinese to Italian - of two academic articles which concern the topic of “Tourism culture” and the research in this field. The first article was published in Tourism Tribune, an authoritative tourism academic journal in China. The second article is taken from Huazhang, an academic periodical edited by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Jilin province.
Tourism culture represents the soul of culture and it is essential for tourism industry, particularly in China, where tourism has greatly developed in the last years. The authors of the texts present the development of the research in this field over the years, its results and, at the end, they submit new proposals for the future of tourism culture.
The texts are specialist texts, oriented towards an expert target audience. They generally use a technical and professional language, full of references to different sectors like tourism culture, anthropology, tourism, ethnography, but it is also associated with a less formal level of language, especially in the second text.
The translation process fills up the main part of the thesis. Finally, it provides the explanation of the macrostrategy adopted by the translator and the specific micro-strategies, useful to solve the linguistic and the extra-linguistic problems encountered during the passage from the chinese context to the italian one.
