Simposio Internacional en Soria sobre Interpretación de Conferencias - propuesta de traducción y análisis traductológico

Abstract

This thesis consists in the translation of two chapters of "Simposio Internacional en Soria sobre Interpretación de Conferencias". It is the transcription of a conference which took place in April 1998. Firstly, it involved not only an in-depth analysis of the Spanish grammatical structures and their correct translations, but also the need to prove the very Spanish version correctness. Uncompleted sentences, reformulating sentences otherwise ungrammatical, coping with interjections with different origins, etc., were issues I had to deal with while reading the original text. On the one hand, the aim was to reveal the major obstacles one could find behind a seemingly simple text, due to the undeniable influence of the oral communication; on the other hand, it was trying to find the best perception in the target language. Therefore, I will explain some of the different strategies adopted, observing and comparing the two texts from the lexical and syntactic point of view by giving a few examples.
