Abstract:
It is more frequent to hear about a so-called "male issue", which is a state of uneasiness affecting many men. It may be considered a consequence of the social, cultural and political changes which have occured during the last century.
In the last sixty years the relationship between genders has deeply evolved: women have experienced more freedom and are now more self-assured. The patriarchal, chauvinist, male-centered system our society was based on has entered a crisis. Therefore men have lost their supremacy and privileges, they've started to feel lost and without any reference points.
For this reason an increase of a feeling of deep resentment towards the opposite sex has occured and they've started to consider women as the only cause of their uneasiness. This has brought different kinds of inappropriate behaviour towards women: abuse, threats, rape, violence, including murder (women killed for the simple fact of being women).
This essay is meant to explore the world of men, investigating the original reasons of this disorder which is affecting so many of them, it is attempting to point out a connection between this condition and the spreading of violence against women in contemporary society.
