dc.description.abstract Starting with the review of the theories of development, that known a particular evolution in the post-war period and that have recently been questionned, the thesis examinates the constraints to the development of the Latin American region. The true development of the area has been undermined by historical, political, economic, financial and social reasons. The focus on the reality of Bolivia was chosen to highlight these aspects and the peculiarities of one of the poorest country of the region. Its development pattern has been hindered by an economic driven by the interests of the local élites and of the foreign investors, by a problematic miltiethnic society and by inefficient pubblic policies. it_IT
