dc.description.abstract This thesis presents a possible translation from Spanish into Italian of four chapters chosen from the science fiction novel series La Saga de los Aznar, written by the Spanish author Pascual Enguídanos Usach and published between 1953 and 1958 (first part), and then between 1974 and 1978 (second and definitive part), under the English pseudonym “George H. White”. Afterwards, there is an analysis of the translation. La Saga de los Aznar is divided into fifty-six stories, collected in several volumes. The series is a sort of an epic poem of the future that accounts the vicissitudes of humanity through the members of the family of the first protagonist (the aviator Miguel Ángel Aznar de Soto) who is thrown from his contemporary era, after an adventure in search of “flying saucers” on the Himalayas, to an unlikely but very suggestive “Jurassic” Venus, and finally, to five centuries in the future, with the Earth on the edge of a dreadful world war and with the more terrible threat of an alien invasion, the one of the “Grey Men” or “thorbods”. The thesis consists of three parts. In the first one there is an introduction and a brief commentary about the word translation, considering some studies and important authors discussing it. Then, the focus is on the possible and different problems regarding the translation process with a special care for the translation of literary texts. In the second part, there is the original text of the four chapters of the series and its translation. Finally, the third part is divided into five chapters. The first chapter corresponds to the analysis of the original text. First of all, there is a presentation of the author and a brief summary of the plot, characters, literary genre, etc. Afterwards, there is an analysis of the main factors of the work involved in the translation process, such as text type, function, model reader, register and language. The second and the third chapter consist of an analysis and a commentary about the translated text. In this commentary the lexical and morfosyntactic choices are explained and justified. Finally, the fourth chapter is about the analysis of the conversational markers, while the fifth consists of an analysis of the sociolinguistics aspects. After the conclusions, there is a Spanish-Italian-English glossary concerning the translation and which is divided into different semantic fields. it_IT
