Abstract:
In the global tourism landscape, among the emerging and rapidly evolving sectors, there is cycle tourism, which is becoming increasingly important also for the opening up of new perspectives and challenges. The aim of the paper is to deepen the relationship between the modularity of services, the mechanisms of value creation, as well as the governance and innovation structures in the cycle tourism sector. Although the concept of modularity is well-established in product development and software engineering, its application to services, including Ninancial services, healthcare, logistics, and IT, has increased in recent years. Service providers use modularity to enhance the delivery of customized services, which is essential for a service-oriented enterprise perspective, even though in its early stages of research. Adopting a multidisciplinary approach and taking theories from service management and governance into consideration, this research investigates the dynamic interactions shaping the cycle tourism ecosystem. A theoretical framework is developed through an extensive literature review that combines ideas related to service modularity, value generation, governance frameworks and innovative procedures. The results demonstrate the importance of service modularity in order to improve the Nlexibility and personalization of the cycling tourism offer, inNluencing the creation of value for different customer targets. The thesis also examines governance mechanisms to understand their impact on the sustainable development of the sector, including regulatory frameworks, industry standards and collaborative initiatives. In fact, governance mechanisms inNluence sustainable development by recognizing systems that promote innovation and incentivize stakeholders to create value for cycle tourism. In addition, the research provides insights into how the modularity of services contributes to the creation of value to develop innovation in emerging markets. From a practical point of view, the Nindings offer valuable insights for policymakers, industry practitioners, and entrepreneurs looking to optimize their strategies in the dynamic landscape of cycle tourism. In addition to theoretical frameworks, this thesis offers actionable recommendations to foster sustainable growth and innovation within the industry. As businesses and destinations adapt to changing consumer preferences and market trends, this research provides a deeper comprehension of the intricate dynamics shaping the emerging market of cycle tourism.
