This research investigates the impact of technological advancements, especially how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is affecting music copyright legislation and piracy. It explores the history of copyright itself, emphasizing how earlier discoveries reshaped legal frameworks to manage and protect intellectual property (IP), and how the emergence of AI introduced new challenges. Nowadays, the distinction between human and machine creativity is blurred by AI’s ability to generate content from vast datasets, which raises critical issues about authorship and copyright enforcement. The study also looks at the ongoing problem of digital music piracy, worsened by modern technologies that facilitate unauthorized distribution via methods like stream-ripping. In this context, AI actively amplifies the difficulty to enforce copyright laws, which is why piracy persists in compromising revenue sources even as legitimate streaming platforms continue to grow. Through Integrated Document Analysis, the researcher examines how AI technologies complicate the control of copyrighted music and illustrates the need for updated legal frameworks that can balance innovation and protection, especially for the rights holders. Finally, critical insights are provided for stakeholders, including policymakers and the music business, to address the dual challenges of AI-driven innovation and digital piracy in the evolving technological landscape. |
