Abstract:
The advent of artificial intelligence has profoundly transformed the current contemporary art landscape, disrupting conventional understandings of creativity and authorship. With AI, we are referring to processes that are continuously evolving and have seen rapid development, especially in recent years. AI is demonstrating the ability to generate original works of art, both visual and musical, its use raises debates about creativity, the extent of the true artist, and the aesthetic quality of the results. In the current discourse, where misinformation and the notion of "originality" are significant factors, there is a widespread belief that AIs could replace the role of the artists due to their ability to generate pictures, paintings, artworks in general. This thesis aims to clarify this misunderstanding in order to restore balance to the debate over the use of AI in the field of art, since this also affects how people experience works of art claimed to be created by means of AI. Through a multidisciplinary approach, this thesis explores the contemporary art world by examining the methodologies and tools available to modern artists, with a focus on the groundbreaking work of the pioneering artist in the use of AI: Refik Anadol.
