Abstract:
The thesis explores how digitalization is transforming the wine sector in line with EU strategies and policies. It aims to understand the technologies in use and their benefits through qualitative research, analyzing corporate reports and scientific literature. The study begins by examining the impact of the Common Agricultural Policy, the Green Deal, and other EU initiatives on sustainability and innovation in the agri-food industry. With a focus on the European, particularly Italian, wine sectors, it highlights digital technologies such as blockchain, IoT, and AI in viticulture and winemaking. It presents examples and case studies to illustrate the opportunities and challenges of digitalization. The results have led to a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with sustainable farming practices and the adoption of digital technologies in the sector. In addition to providing insights into the policy changes needed to address these challenges and capitalize on the opportunities offered by the transition.
