Abstract:
The present thesis is a dedicated exploration of the current approaches, challenges, and opportunities in the management of Montenegro's cultural heritage. Namely, to provide a valuable perspective for enhancing and ensuring the long-term preservation of Montenegro's cultural heritage, this thesis will use the example of successful practice in the field of the revitalization of cultural and historical heritage and its contemporary tourist development in Italy as inspiration.
Considering the aforementioned points, this paper will rely on both an exploratory and a comparative approach: The first part will encompass the historical and cultural background of Montenegro with key elements of cultural heritage. Also, this part will feature an in-depth analysis of the challenges Montenegro encounters in safeguarding its cultural legacy as well as historical, social, and economic factors that contributed to it.
The core of this paper will be devoted to the case studies of historic cities in both Italy and Montenegro that will scrutinize their historical background and cultural heritage management. Through a detailed examination of a representative case in Italy, the research aims to provide targeted insights that can inform and improve cultural heritage management as well as identify practices and strategies that could be applied to Montenegro.
