Abstract:
This dissertation will be a research study to answer the question:
What is the socio-economic impact of the Japanese Just-in-Time (JIT) system on economically disadvantaged countries in Southeast Asia participating in global value chains? And how do these effects shape these countries roles and positions within these chains?
The study will try to understand the influence of Japan on these economically disadvantaged countries, and it will be divided into four chapters:
1. Global Value Chains
2. Japan in Global Value Chains
3. Southeast Asia in Global Value Chains
4. The influence of the JIT System on Southeast Asian countries
