Identity Formation among Japanese Students in Italy: A Transnational Perspective

Abstract

This study delves into the identity formation of Japanese students in Italy, adopting a transnational lens to understand their unique challenges and experiences. The research takes a comparative approach by considering the experiences of students from other countries, including China, Korea, Mongolia, and more. Employing qualitative methods, such as in-depth interviews, this study aims to explore the motivations of Japanese students who choose Italy as study destiation, as well as the impact of both language barriers and cross-cultural interactions on the students’ identity formations.
