In today's society, we are increasingly surrounded and immersed in digital and social media, which can have both positive and negative effects. It will also examine the new opportunities that the digital age offers both at the work and cultural levels and also the importance of preserving privacy in an increasingly controlled and surveilled society. The paper will shed light on several topics that will focus on explaining the consequences and influence that new technologies have on individuals. Thus, FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), JOMO (Joy of Missing Out), FOLO (Fear of Living Offline), Phubbing, and SMF (Social Media Fatigue) will be considered and what can cause anxiety and social pressure. Furthermore, the topic of Boredom and all its causes on the daily life of the subjects will be analyzed. Lastly, it will be possible to reflect on the post-digital society and what it entails for social interactions and how one can learn to live with new technologies while still managing to have unique and authentic experiences. Keywords: digital era; social media; contemporary media phenomena, boredom, post-digital. it_IT
