dc.description.abstract This thesis explores why and how Emotional Intelligence is valuable for employees and organizations, arguing it complements technical knowledge and cognitive abilities. As our society is being influenced by new disruptive trends, so does the working environment. These changes place increased demands on socio-emotional skills that employees can and must develop to keep up with such developments. In fact, companies worldwide are increasingly recognizing the relevance that these competencies have in today’s dynamic work environments. Results of this conceptual research indicate that Emotional Intelligence is beneficial in the workplace as it contributes to delivering superior performance in employees as well as organizations. Additionally, this analysis shows the positive impact that managers with high Emotional Intelligence can have in the workplace, especially in the relationship with their subordinates and in their decision-making process. On this matter, results are supported by a detailed case study carried out at Amadori, identifying links between Emotional Intelligence, performance and engagement. Given these findings, it is suggested that companies should integrate practices to enhance Emotional Intelligence in the workplace. it_IT
