Abstract:
This thesis wants to focus on some of the main aspects and dimensions of the digital era we are living. Rather than a fast excursus of the past, it focuses on nowadays dynamics with the intention of highlighting the practical aspects of the phenomenon and its consequences.
The first chapter takes into consideration the general features of this change and the challenge it represents. It analyzes the new aspects of the enormous impact the digitalization era has on society. Technical aspects, individual and collective reactions, skills, and needs are the various underlined elements in order to define the limits of previously assessed certainties and to better define the range of further needs.
Given the above mentioned, the second chapter brings to light the current conflicts and especially the difficulties that societies must face. Leaders are directly involved in this process and the recent past strategies seem to be inadequate to cope with such a revolution. The challenges characterized by ongoing speed and quality put into discussion the traditional aspects of leadership which must be modernized and updated.
The third chapter, through an empirical analysis, concentrates on the various factors of communication leadership needs to exercise in the digital era. Understanding and managing the new instruments will be the key to success when it comes to competition involving companies and their businesses. The challenge the digital era comes up with embodies the opportunity not only to prove the validity of leadership in any field but also the guarantee of getting personal and professional satisfaction.
Finally, some considerations regarding future scenarios and trends seem to shape leadership's upcoming needs and its best-performing conditions.
