dc.description.abstract This essay explores the history and role of participatory art in contemporary society. Participatory art, also known as collaborative or co-creative art, involves active involvement of the audience in the creation and experience of the artwork. The essay begins by providing a brief overview of participatory art and its importance today. The historical context of participatory art is then examined, tracing its origins and development in the 20th century, and highlighting major artists and works associated with the movement. The characteristics of participatory art, including collaboration, co-creation, audience participation, and community engagement, are then discussed. The essay concludes by exploring the role of participatory art today, including contemporary examples, its impact on society, opportunities for participation in art-making, and challenges facing the movement. Through this analysis, the essay argues that participatory art has the potential to address current societal issues and offer a more inclusive and democratic approach to art-making. it_IT
