Abstract:
This thesis discusses the phenomenon of strategic alliances after the semiconductor shortage in the automotive industry. The first chapter describes the strategic alliances, including reasons and factors that influence the adoption of this collaboration strategy, types and stages for alliance formation, factors that affect the success or the failure of alliances and how to manage the relationship between the parties involved. The second chapter introduces an analysis of the semiconductor industry, with a focus on the value chain. The third chapter shows what are the causes of this shortage, bringing particular attention on the automotive industry, analysing the impact on automaker companies and their response to the crisis. Finally, the fourth chapter analyses the formation of a strategic alliance as a response to the shortage through a case study.
