Exploring investment opportunities in Africa: analysis of the economic and financial environment and development of a Portfolio of African Assets.

Abstract

This thesis aims at investigating the African continent by studying its potential as an investment opportunity. The study begins with an introduction of the continent and it develops with an analysis of the three megatrends that are observable in the region. Africa has the potential to become the central hub of the global economy. To reach this potential in a sustainable way, it is essential to pursue the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, therefore, a significant portion of the thesis is dedicated to analyzing how African countries are working to meet these targets. To conclude, the thesis provides a practical example of an optimal portfolio of African assets, using modern portfolio theory and arbitrage portfolio theory.
