dc.description.abstract Over the years development has influenced many different fields, including the financial one. Understanding how consumers have changed their habits in terms of the payment methods including the one that have entered the market and now are widely spread and accepted by the majority of the market it's fundamental. This thesis firstly address the technological development that has enabled the creation of new financial tools and discusses and the appliance of these services in the financial environment. Moreover, this thesis addresses the implementation of new services and the history of their regulation enlightening the impact of such regulation on consumers. Finally, new trends in the financial field are presented and consumers' preferences and habits in term of payment methods are discussed. it_IT
