dc.description.abstract This study investigates the role of the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest in the fight against climate change. The Amazon rainforest is the most varied ecosystem in terms of biodiversity and one of the major reserves of water and oxygen, it is extremely important in conserving the temperature and ecosystem stability. As part of this work, particular attention is paid to the analysis of climate change and forest conservation through the evaluation of environmental policies. The contribution of the local and indigenous communities is vital for the preservation of the rainforest but despite that, indigenous’ land, resources, and culture are threatened by the ideas which put profits ahead of nature. The thesis aims to analyze on one hand the existing instruments at national and international level and the system of institutions entrusted with the task of protecting the forest and indigenous communities and on the other hand to highlight the potential and failures of existing tools and determine the effectiveness and degree of compliance. The Amazon biome is facing a lot of challenges, if the international community and the Brazilian government do not take efficient actions to stop deforestation the rainforest will reach a point of no return in which the entire ecosystem balance would be affected. it_IT
