dc.description.abstract The post-colonial theory and critique emerged to reveal the secrets of colonialism. Likewise, post-colonial literature was born to shed light on the realities of the entire colonial process from various perspectives. In this context, Amitav Ghosh, who is the voice of India, presented a striking analysis of colonialism by reflecting the post-colonial periods of India through his novel Shadow Lines. In his The Shadow Lines, Ghosh puts identity versus nationhood and concludes that all borders are imaginary constraints. The novel covers events throughout the history including events such as Second World War, Swadeshi Movement, Partition of India and riots in 1960s in Calcutta and Dhaka. He touches issues such as culture, language, history and the frontiers of nationality. In current thesis work it is aimed to explore post-colonial elements in Shadow lines. Therefore the aim is to investigate the novel structure from the postcolonial point of view providing examples directly from the novel about elements regarding to postcolonial period. it_IT
