ABSTRACT
This thesis talks about what is happened and what is happening in the United Kingdom. After the Referendum that has as result the winning of the “Leave”, many things have changed for the trade in goods, both for the UK businesses and for foreign countries ones.
The first chapter has an introductive aim: it explains, step by step, what brought British people to the choice they have made on the 23rd June of 2016. Moreover, it describes the process to reach the withdrawal agreement with the European Union.
The second chapter deepens trade in goods with Europe, in particular by analyzing the United Kingdom and European Union Trade and Cooperation Agreement, its particularities, and all the provisions that modify trade in goods; particularly with regard to the barriers that could slow down trade in goods between the two parties. Not only that but also the rules of origin which will allow certain goods not to be subject to border controls and the criticism to the Trade and Cooperation Agreement.
The third chapter deals with the other part of the Withdrawal Agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom: the Northern Ireland/Ireland Protocol. In fact, trading with Northern Ireland is a bit different; it will keep on to be part of UK customs clearance and if the UK will sign new trade agreements with third countries, also Northern Ireland will receive the benefits gained. However, it will continue to enforce some of the EU rules that regard the sale and production of goods.
Finally, the fourth will describe the new agreements the United Kingdom is signing with other countries after its withdrawal from the European Union.
