dc.description.abstract ABSTRACT This thesis focuses on the translation from Italian to Chinese of the novel Tutto chiede salvezza (Everything Demands Salvation) written by Italian writer Daniele Mencarelli. The novel is based on the autobiographical experience of being sent to a mental hospital for mandatory medical treatment for a week after a mental breakdown. He has five roommates who are strange, disturbing, and at the same time tender characters, overwhelmed by the adversities of life. Brought together by the experience of hospitalization, in which they suffer the indifference of doctors and the fear of nurses, they build a sense of brotherhood and a need for mutual support. The thesis is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, the author will first outline three of the most representative works in modern and contemporary Italian literature on the theme of mental health, and compare them with important works on the same theme in modern and contemporary Chinese literature. In addition, there is a brief introduction to the creative world of Daniele Mencarelli, the writer of Tutto chiede salvezza, focusing on the analysis of the book and of the mental health issues presented in that work. The second chapter is a translation from Italian into Chinese of the first one hundred pages of the novel Tutto chiede salvezza. This section focuses on the reasons that caused the author to undergo mandatory medical treatment, his experiences in the first two days of his hospitalization, and the description of the doctors, nurses, and roommates he met in the mental hospital. The third and final chapter provides a translation commentary, analyzing the main problems and difficulties faced during the translation process and the techniques and solutions adopted to produce the final Chinese text. A glossary of the technical terms and a bibliography can be found at the end of this thesis. it_IT
