Abstract:
In the last couple of decades, global filmmaking companies, especially those which operate in Hollywood, face a significant change due to the convergence of western and eastern movie industries. It is well-established now that the industry giant and leader, United States, faces great competition from the East, specifically from China. The digitalization of the world, which is one of the main reasons of the mentioned convergence and increasing competition, transformed the industry by revealing new business and strategy concepts, thus, forced production companies act differently. This study aims to determine how those changes exactly happened in the global filmmaking industry and what the consequences might be down the line. Additionally, it investigates what kind of roles organization design, innovation, branding and communication had and have in the production companies in order to have an impact on the industry and how those attributes affect the quality of final products (movies) as well. The study adopts both quantitative and qualitative research methods. For qualitative research method, narrative approach and case studies about the related companies and individuals are mainly considered. Quantitative research, mainly secondary one, is included in order to better understand the essence of the given topics and have better overview of the issues presented in the study.
