Abstract:
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the consequences of the recession of 2008 on the management of global supply chains. It will be shown how companies can implement a number of manufacturing and logistics strategies to face the main challenges of the new market environment. Crucial emphasis will be given to the ways in which unfavorable conditions can actually be turned into weapons for companies to succeed in the global market.
The analysis will be supported by the case study of East West Manufacturing not only to illustrate the relevant concepts gathered from the analysis, but also to critically test them against the backdrop of a U.S.-based offshore manufacturing and supply chain management company.
