Abstract:
This thesis focuses on the translation of two specialized articles associated with obesity, especially with the consequences of childhood obesity around the world.
The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is an introduction about obesity, it includes data related to obesity incidence worldwide, causes, consequences and risks which obese people are subjected to. It explains how to diagnose obesity, it gives details about the most common ways to measure body composition and describes some strategies to prevent and cure obesity and promote weight loss.
The second chapter consists of a translation proposal of the two articles mentioned above. The first article translated from Chinese into Italian is written by Fu Zhicong, student at Shanghai Jiaotong University. It describes which plans, policies, and strategies have been adopted in different countries in order to counter unhealthy food consumption and prevent obesity and overweight. The second article is written by Wu Xiaowei, Professor at Henan Vocational College of Nursing. In the article he illustrates the results of six weeks of diet and physical exercise on fifty Chinese obese adolescents.
The final chapter clarifies the problems faced during the translation process and the strategies adopted with the purpose of creating the target text. The thesis includes also a glossary of the technical expressions and a list of bibliography references.
