Financial Cluster An Explorative Study of Success

Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to explore and compare the specialty of financial cluster and outline the most important facts to stay competitive within their network. For an optimal and scattered analyzation of financial cluster, I will select the most potential cluster in Europe. In addition to that and for a deeper view inside, I´ll choose two potential competitive clusters for an environmental analysis on macro- and microeconomic level. This will help to find aspects and criteria which are essential for being a competitive cluster and show the key for an economic successful network. In order to reach this goal, four defined Research Objectives (RO) will help to understand and reenact the importance of financial cluster: RO 1 – Description of cluster overall with main focus on financial cluster (definition and history as an insight in this topic). RO 2 – Examination of finance as an industry within a cluster (importance of financial objectives: banking, investing and insurance within a cluster). RO 3 – Economic Analysis from selected financial cluster worldwide – most promising cluster in competition are chosen for an intensely environmental analysis. RO 4 – Outlining the most important criteria and facts for a city / an area to achieve a competitive and successful financial cluster.

To reach those four Research Objectives: RO 1 and RO 2 will be achieved with literature research. RO 3 will be detected within economic and environmental analysis of the different pre-selected financial cluster to gain the outcome for RO 4.
