Abstract:
This thesis will discuss the food security of China with indicators that cover four dimensions of food security. By starting with a conceptional review of food security and an introduction to the challenge of world’s food security, factors that affect food security could be explained, as determines have an impact on aggerated food supply and demand. China as one of the biggest developing countries, who have achieved in improving national nutritional intake, while facing food security challenges like reducing available arable land and certain food import dependency ratio growth. And this paper will analyses how China’s food import has been changed by accession to WTO since 2001. An evaluation index system of China’s food security would be used to identify what are the main factors that impacting on food security. In addition, a case study of Chinese consumer’s food demand and dietary change would be conducted, as an analysis of pork price increases in 2019 and related food security issue.
