dc.description.abstract The focus of this research is on the analysis of a number of traditional and CLIL textbooks, which can be used by Italian schools, to catch the differences and similarities between them. Although, the number of textbooks in Italian that we adopt for the analysis is limited since it only involves two books that are sold with the CLIL ones and two textbooks sold as stand-alone. We also wish to try and understand if CLIL methodology is properly applied in the Italian school materials that adopt this methodology. The conclusions we reach cannot be generalizable to all the Italian CLIL and traditional textbooks since the analysis takes into consideration a limited number of books. However, before analysing textbooks, in the theoretical framework, we discuss the Italian situation concerning the CLIL methodology and above all the elements that will be used in the analysis of textbooks. As concerns the analysis, we use a grid with several points to consider which are useful to identify the differences and similarities between course books. it_IT

dc.description.note ABSTRACT The focus of this research is on the analysis of a number of traditional and CLIL textbooks, which can be used by Italian schools, to catch the differences and similarities between them. Before analysing textbooks, in the theoretical framework, we discuss the Italian situation concerning the CLIL methodology and above all the elements that will be used in the analysis of textbooks. As concerns the analysis, we use a grid with several points to tick which are useful to identify the main differences and similarities between course books and we also examine the notes we take to understand in detail these differences and similarities. The method of research we adopt is quan-qual because we collect both soft (notes we take) and hard data (ticks in the grid). As concerns the results of this research, we found that the CLIL course books influenced the traditional books sold with them and that one of the two CLIL textbooks does not follow the principles of CLIL whereas the other one respects them much more. As concerns the differences between Italian traditional books, we found that the CLIL approach impacts on the textbooks sold with the CLIL ones but there is also one of the two traditional course books sold as stand-alone which presents many features of this approach. However, the other Italian traditional book sold alone we analysed is not influenced by this methodology. Nevertheless, we can hypothesise that in general the Italian traditional textbooks and the CLIL ones are similar. it_IT
