dc.description.abstract The thesis is focused on the synthesis and characterization of new luminescent mononuclear and polynuclear copper(I) complexes based on benzotriazole and indazole derivatives. The mono-, bi- or tridentate ligands obtained were reacted with three kinds of precursors: copper halides (CuCl and CuBr), [Cu(CH3CN)4]BF4 and borohydride complexes, such as [Cu(BH4)(PPh3)2] and [Cu(BH4)(dppe)], where dppe is 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane. The resulting complexes were investigated through heteronuclear NMR and IR spectroscopy. Their photophysical proprieties were experimentally investigated via UV-vis absorption and emission spectra (PL, PLE, lifetime decay curves), and rationalized through DFT and TD-DFT calculations. The experimental outcomes were supported in selected cases by electrochemical measurements, in particular cyclic voltammetry. After their luminescent proprieties were determined, the most promising complexes were applied in the preparation of doped plastics to be used in light sources. Particular attention was devoted to the preparation of coatings for white LEDs. it_IT
