And Italy, as one of the most famous tourist countries in the world, is very popular among the people of the world. The reason I chose this theme is that I have always been interested in the tourism industry in Italy and China, And my undergraduate thesis was about the tourism industry in Venice, So I have been wondering why the Italian tourism is so famous, when did it start, and how it developed. At the same time, it is also associated with the development of China's tourism industry. Now, under the guidance of Prime Minister Xi Jinping's policy of “the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road”, the tourism industry will also further develop. This thesis includes the translation of the third chapter of “STORIA DEL VIAGGIO E DEL TURISMO IN ITALIA” (The History of Italian Travel and Tourism). The author is Professor Andrea Jelardi of the Oriental University of Naples, who has been engaged in Italian tourism research for many years, and whose works can better let everyone understand the development of Italian tourism. The translated chapter tells about the 20th century Italian travel in terms of history, religion, transportation, travel types, etc. This thesis also explains how the economic recovery after the First World War, the industrial revolution, and religious development influence the people’s living habits, travel habits, and finally led to the popularity of travel.
