Abstract:
This thesis aims at reviewing the concept of inequality by individualizing the defining factors of this phenomenon. I will firstly indicate the forces that leads to it and what it will lead to from a theoretical point of view. I will illustrate the instruments that have been used and are being used to measure and quantify inequality.
I will then move to analyse what has been done under a more political lens. I will bring evidence from numerous studies, carried out at different times and in various countries to better examine the aftermath of diverse political policies.
It is through theory and data that I intend to examine from a social point of view the effectiveness of policies of the past. To determine how and what will entail receding or enhancing political plans whose intention is reducing the dispersion from the mean in the distribution of income.
