Abstract:
The initiative "A belt, a Road" is a project promoted by the Chinese government which provides the realization of a "Silk Road Economic Belt" and a "Twenty-first Century Maritime Silk Road ". The Silk Road, as we knew it, has disappeared. But in its place is borning a New Silk Road: a visionary project wanted by the board of the Chinese Communist Party, and promoted by its President Xi Jinping. The initiative was presented to the world by the President of the People's Republic of China (Xi Jinping), in October 2013 and is currently being implemented. The New Silk Road wants to be a renaissance of the ancient routes commercial, cultural and financial that will have as their driving force that of People's Republic of China; it will give new impetus to the country's growth; and will provide greater international influence.The objective of this thesis is to provide an overview of the economic and political situation that led to the formulation of the project, present the objectives and content of the initiative, all providing a critical analysis also considering the future prospects.
