dc.description.abstract |
The present thesis aims to discuss the applicability of platform theory for P2P marketplaces in the new sharing economy – especially in early phases of development. Therefore, the thesis synthesizes the current state of research on platform businesses with a focus on P2P interactions and applies it to the field of the live event industry. A qualitative expert interview is used to gain further insights and a case study is put forward. Based on this, the thesis proposes a new P2P based business model in the live event sector and evaluates its potential success. A quantitative survey of potential customers and users is used to validate the the business model and find points of contention. Lastly, critical issues for P2P businesses in the new sharing economy are highlighted. |
