Abstract:
I will analyse the impact of patents in the smartphone industry. I want to show the important role of patents in this sector of industry and the evolution of the lawsuits within the years. I want to show and explain the role of patent trolls, those companies which sue other companies using "weak" patents as base of the lawsuits. I will show the increase of Patent trolls after the NTP against RIM case. I will bring evidence of some patent trolls firms and I will show the data elaboration about the smartphone litigations with a focus on the trolls.
