Abstract:
The implementation of sustainable development's policies is one of the main goals for Europe and the whole world. Although an increasing number of people have been leaving rural areas to live in cities, there is still a high number of citizens reside in such areas. For this reason the EU has implemented specific financial programs. At the same time, rural development is a priority in the European Union. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the level of sustainability in specific predominantly mountain areas located in the North-east of Italy. The analysis has been conducted through the dominance-based rough-set method, a mathematical tool that allows to conduct analysis in information system. The analysis allows to understand what are the factors able to influence the level of sustainability.
Results can be used by local policy makers, due to their transparency and clarity.
