War, in the variety of its multiple forms, has been constantly present in the human experience since the very origin of mankind. So being, it undoubtedly impacted, impact and is going to impact the civil society daily life, whose effects on it are effectively bound to the specific type of tools in use.
My project of thesis is going to be a philosophical discussion about the influence of recently developed military technologies on civilians, their lives, values and culture. It will be partitioned in three sections as follows: the first section, through appropriate jurisprudential instruments, will analyze the legal framework in which new military technologies can be inscribed, in order to evaluate their status concerning international law, and also, if necessary, providing historic notes to further clarify the context; the second section will picture an exhaustive description of a chosen list of weapons and tools with annexed cases study, in order to understand and examine, in the next section, how they can affect civilians culture and daily life; the third and last section will point out and discuss extensively precise changes, divided in precise topics (the concept of diplomacy, cyberwar, war from a gender perspective, and war associated to the media), military technologies have been provoking on civil society habits, daily life and culture, modifying as a consequence the very perception of the concept of war itself. |
